WEB Hungary and Vinci SA Buy Budapest Airport for €31 Billion

A Strategic Investment

WEB Hungary, an investment fund owned and managed by the Hungarian state, and French construction giant Vinci SA have joined forces to acquire Budapest Airport Zrt. The deal is valued at €43 billion to €47 billion and includes the assumption of €12 billion in net debt. Upon completion of the transaction, Corvinus will own 80% of the concessionaire, while VINCI Airports will own the remaining 20%.

A Major Hub

Budapest Airport is the main base of the Hungarian airline Wizz Air, which was founded in 2003. The airport serves as a major hub for low-cost carriers and is a significant player in the region's aviation industry. The acquisition by WEB Hungary and Vinci SA is expected to further strengthen the airport's position and contribute to its growth and development.
