Born on February 16, 2000, in Manila, Philippines, Carlos Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast who has made a name for himself as one of the most promising young gymnasts in the world. Yulo's breakthrough came at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, where he won a record-breaking 9 gold medals in various gymnastics events. He went on to compete at the 2019 World Championships, where he became the first Filipino gymnast to win a medal, earning a bronze in the floor exercise.

In 2021, Yulo made his Olympic debut at the Tokyo Olympics. He became the first Filipino gymnast to qualify for the all-around final, finishing 13th overall. He also finished 5th in the floor exercise final, the highest finish ever by a Filipino gymnast at the Olympics.
